Spring has Sprung!

Well, it sure has been a BUSY last week and weekend with cats 🐾—injuries, pregnancies… and SO many kittens!

Lois spent countless hours searching endlessly for kittens. We are always so grateful for her expertise in trapping—she is truly amazing!

And a huge thank you to Pitty Love Rescue and Tara for all your help and support—we couldn’t do this without you!

Now for an interesting (and additionally exhausting!) story…

Last week, neighbors reached out about an outdoor-friendly cat named Piper. We were sure she was pregnant and thought we had about 1–2 weeks before she would give birth…

Well… of course we did, right?

WRONG!

We quickly got a foster set up (thank you SO much to Erin Gwara and her wonderful family), and returned the next day to bring Piper in—but she was NOWHERE to be found. This was completely unusual, according to her very watchful neighbors.

Fast forward to Saturday—we FOUND her! We brought her to Erin and her excited family.

Then Sunday… plot twist!

An expert vet tech, Natalie (thank you!! 🙏), let us know that Piper was NOT pregnant… she had actually given birth very recently—like within the last day or so.

Cue the urgency!!

We quickly brought Piper back to her neighborhood and (after a very serious conversation with her about NEEDING her to show us where her babies were), we let her go…

And within MINUTES…

We heard the sweetest sound—tiny crying kittens!

She had her babies safely tucked away under a concrete staircase with an opening about the size of a small plate

With the help of the amazing homeowner, we were able to break a basement window and carefully scoop out all FOUR kittens into a carrier

Piper didn’t hesitate—she quickly followed and joined her babies

Everyone is now safe, healthy, and together

And us?

We are EXHAUSTED!!!

But oh… so incredibly grateful and rewarded

Also since March….38 kittens helped…..also special thanks to Gail Marie Koch and Larry and everyone that helps us keep our little rescue operational!!!

Kitten Season is here!

SO MANY KITTENS - 15 kittens and 3 moms were successfully placed with Pet Pride and Love for Misfit Meeps. We are so grateful for their help in caring for these friendly moms and sweet babies.

TNRV UPDATE - We had 7 TNVR (trap, neuter, vaccinate, release) appointments in March. One cat was having breathing problems. Miraculously we received a donation of the exact medicine that she needed (without even requesting it!). She recuperated indoors during her treatment and was released healthier and stronger than ever!

FOUR FRIENDLIES - Four of those trapped turned out to be sweet and friendly! They were placed with fosters or accepted by other rescues. Thank you Flower City Kitties!

ADORABLE ADOPTABLES - Look for ROLAND on the website and LITTLE MISS will be added to our Adoptable Cats page very soon!

ABANDONED TRIO - Three friendly house cats were abandoned due to eviction. Keller’s Kats generously accepted them into their rescue so they have a chance to find their true forever home.

LET ME OUT! - We learned something new from 2 of our community cats. Robin brought 2 “friendly” colony cats into foster care. We soon discovered that although they purred and liked to be pet outside, they hated the indoors and were frightened and aggressive. Some cats can like people but not the indoors. They prefer the sights and sound of nature and the security of their territory. They were returned back to their familiar and comforting surroundings where they will be cared for by Robin.

TUMMY TROUBLE - We are fostering a previously owned cat who needs vet care and a consistent caregiver to diagnose and treat diarrhea.

That’s all for now! Enjoy the warmer weather and we will be back soon for more updates!
