Spring has Sprung!
Well, it sure has been a BUSY last week and weekend with cats đžâinjuries, pregnancies⌠and SO many kittens!
Lois spent countless hours searching endlessly for kittens. We are always so grateful for her expertise in trappingâshe is truly amazing!
And a huge thank you to Pitty Love Rescue and Tara for all your help and supportâwe couldnât do this without you!
Now for an interesting (and additionally exhausting!) storyâŚ
Last week, neighbors reached out about an outdoor-friendly cat named Piper. We were sure she was pregnant and thought we had about 1â2 weeks before she would give birthâŚ
Well⌠of course we did, right?
WRONG!
We quickly got a foster set up (thank you SO much to Erin Gwara and her wonderful family), and returned the next day to bring Piper inâbut she was NOWHERE to be found. This was completely unusual, according to her very watchful neighbors.
Fast forward to Saturdayâwe FOUND her! We brought her to Erin and her excited family.
Then Sunday⌠plot twist!
An expert vet tech, Natalie (thank you!! đ), let us know that Piper was NOT pregnant⌠she had actually given birth very recentlyâlike within the last day or so.
Cue the urgency!!
We quickly brought Piper back to her neighborhood and (after a very serious conversation with her about NEEDING her to show us where her babies were), we let her goâŚ
And within MINUTESâŚ
We heard the sweetest soundâtiny crying kittens!
She had her babies safely tucked away under a concrete staircase with an opening about the size of a small plate
With the help of the amazing homeowner, we were able to break a basement window and carefully scoop out all FOUR kittens into a carrier
Piper didnât hesitateâshe quickly followed and joined her babies
Everyone is now safe, healthy, and together
And us?
We are EXHAUSTED!!!
But oh⌠so incredibly grateful and rewarded
Also since MarchâŚ.38 kittens helpedâŚ..also special thanks to Gail Marie Koch and Larry and everyone that helps us keep our little rescue operational!!!
